Job Title: Utility Worker Reports To: Shop Floor Lead
Department: Manual Operations, 63130 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Utility role is just as it sounds. The role is extremely flexible when, where the need is at any time. Generally, the Utility role will be prepping components for Assembly using standards and/or verbal instructions. However, there will be other general activities assigned as well.SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Prepares machined products by deburring, washing, and marking as required by the production order.
- Deburring removes small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to remove sharp edges for the safe handling and use.
- Operate air tools, hand tools, overhead lifts, saws and industrial vehicles.
- Will perform packaging and/or wrapping as necessary.
- Complete inspection/quality documents as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SECONDARY DUTIES
- As one gains competence and qualification, you may Assemble, inspect, test, mark, and record per production order sub-assemblies or top level assemblies as needed.
- Will need to work in any area, Large or Small Bearings, using the appropriate assists to safely perform duties as required.
- Fastens parts together with identified hardware, fasteners per drawings and Bill of Materials.
- May be required to perform more complex assembly of product with others support.
- Use measurement devices such as micrometers, calipers, thread gages, and indicators.
- Disassemble products as required for rework, warranty, salvage operations.
EHS REQUIREMENTS:
- Additional duties and responsibilities will vary based upon departmental needs.
- Complete all work in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements consistent with supporting the Company’s goals.
- Lifting guidelines in accordance with the Manual Lifting Guidelines noted in the Safety Handbook.
- Follow all environmental requirements consistent with supporting the company’s environmental performance goals.
- Complete, and actively participate in all other EHS training requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- High mechanical aptitude/ability preferred such as:
- Engine repair experience
- Troubleshoot / diagnostic abilities in mechanical equipment.
- US Citizenship or lawful permanent resident of the US.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the office, shop, warehouse, or manufacturing plant
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
- Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment.
- Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives, changing priorities and reassign priorities to complete assignments.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment is typically considered within a MIBA location during normal or extended business hours to include offices, manufacturing plants and repair facilities.
