Job Description
MIBA Industrial Bearings U.S. is a global leader in the design and manufacture of hydrodynamic bearings. Working for MIBA, based in Grafton WI, the candidate will support the strategic growth of the hydrodynamic bearings product line.  We are looking for a candidate with a strong desire to secure a position in product design and application.
BASIC FUNCTION:
The primary role of the Product Design Engineer is to ensure that all products design and developed by the organization meet customer specifications, achieve expected quality and reliability levels.
The Product Design Engineer is expected to behave ethically, work safely and as a team, and focus on our customer satisfaction.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Support engineering efforts in the development of new technology that will provide a competitive advantage.
  • Respond to technical inquires, support Sales team in the selection of company products to meet customer needs.
  • Design new or modified products, as required, to meet specifications. Provide computer program analysis, models, and detailed drawings as required.
  • Lead projects and conducts project reviews as needed to ensure successful and timely completion of projects.
  • Responsible for the successful launch of new products. Provide leadership and be involved on the shop floor during the process.
  • Investigate, design, and implement changes to ensure quality and obtain economic production of new and existing products. Contribute to meeting productivity and cost challenges.
  • Provide technical support with manufacturing related issues.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implementation plan to address costly assemblies, components, hardware, and processes.
  • Provide support to customer related field issues or installation concerns. 
  • Provide instructions or technical support as required.
  • Support safety program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of cross functional experience in product design and product development in a high precision manufacturing setting.
  • US Citizen/Resident required.
  • Experience with ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS CFX or Fluent is preferred.
  • Experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications.  Knowledge of common machining practices is required.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and identifying, recommending, and implementing cost reductions by improving design, design for manufacture, process changes and/or tooling utilization.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Proven ability to facilitate teams and lead improvement projects.
  • Good communication (verbal and written) skills and excellent listening ability required.
  • Travel required: 25%.
